Welcome to OnYourBusiness - a blog that helps you work on your business, rather than in your business.

About Me

Thats MeMy name is Kyle Claypool and I am a twenty-something small business owner and blogger. I studied at the University of Illinois with concentrations in Business - Managing Information Systems (MIS) and Information Technology Studies (ITS). At the age of fourteen I started custom-building PCs for friends and family. At sixteen I started doing freelance website design. Today, I run an IT consulting business with clients and partners such as DuPont, 3M and the Penske Group. Our primary focus is process management (standard operating procedures), e-learning, and affordable website design for small businesses.

This blog was inspired in part by the book The E-Myth Revisited, by Michael Gerber. This book was instrumental in the formation and success of my business. I would highly suggest any aspiring or potential small business owner read it. The rest of the inspiration comes from the people I’ve had the pleasure (and occasional displeasure) of working with over the past few years, and the books, articles and blogs I’ve read. As my company expanded, I realized I was pointing new employees to a number of resources I happened across by chance. This blog will give me the chance to share those resources, and my own experiences, with a broader audience.
